MUSEUM: THE CURRENT SITUATION
25 February 2025
It is with immense regret that the decision to close the museum has been taken.
As previously publicised, I had hoped a new custodian would take the venture on.
Unfortunately, despite a good level of interest, nothing has come to fruition. Consequently my collection will be auctioned this coming May.
A press release to this effect will be released shortly
Thank you for all your continued support and for all the best wishes I have received for my retirement

Over 150 vintage and classic vehicles, from pre-1920s to the 1990s
About us
The museum first opened in June 2013. Since then, the founder has significantly increased the available display area so that the museum is now home to over one hundred and fifty historic motor cars and motor cycles. The main collection is complemented by a diverse range of artefacts, memorabilia and petroliana.

The original building has an art deco frontage having been built in the 1930’s as a bus depot serving the moorland town of Moretonhampstead and the surrounding area. Visitors often use the word ‘Tardis’ to express their surprise when they realise how much there is to discover.

Moretonhampstead town consists of a small Dartmoor community and provides many interesting nooks and crannies to explore, a variety of eateries, art gallery and play park.
Club and group visits
The museum has hosted many visits from local and national clubs. We are pleased to assist organisers from giving advice on local facilities, to even booking group meals at nearby pubs or hotels. For groups of 10 or more the museum’s admission concession applies. Please email or telephone for further details.

Group visits can be accommodated outside our normal opening hours, for example in the evening
